Chemistry Laboratory
(Building 10-102)
Open to qualified users 24 hours daily. Users must have read and signed
the chemistry laboratory training procedure before using the laboratory.

Food
A selection of food and beverages is available from vending machines
located in the Building 80 lounge outside the ALS Control Room and on
the first floor of Building 2. Coffee makers, microwave ovens, and refrigerators
are also available in the Building 80 lounge as well as the ALS experiment
floor lounges.
Machine Shop (Building
10, Room 111)
Open to qualified users who have completed safety orientation for use
of the Machine Shop facilities. A key is available in the Control Room,
Building 80-140. At least two people must be present in the machine
shop whenever equipment is being used after regular business hours.

Parking
Users without a parking permit who need to drive to the ALS on weekends
(because there is no Berkeley Lab shuttle bus service) can obtain a
same-day parking pass by presenting their Berkeley Lab identification
to the security guard at the main entrance.
Supplies
The ALS keeps a stockroom for users on the bottom floor of Building
7 by the receiving area. The stockroom has many supplies essential to
users including MDC vacuum parts (gaskets and flanges),electronics equipment
and parts, tools, batteries, stationary, nuts, bolts, and chemicals
(acetone, isopropyl alcohol, etc.). The stock room is open 24 hours
a day, but an ID Proximity Access Card, issued after user registration
is completed, is required for access after normal business hours. An
account number is also required.
Technical, Mechanical,
and Vacuum Services

User Services Area (Between
Beamlines 6.3.2 and 5.3.1, inside the ALS)
The User Services Area has computers (Macintosh and PCs), a fax machine,
and a photocopier for the general use of researchers at the ALS. Information
sheets, including ALS User Advisories, Beamline Data Sheets, and the
Gas Log Book, are also located in this area.
