Registration
Before beginning
work at the ALS, all users must register with the ALS
User Services Office, complete required safety training, and obtain
a Berkeley Lab ID Proximity Access Card. The entire registration process
can be completed in less than 30 minutes at the User Services Office
by following the steps outlined below.
The ALS User Services
Office is located on the mezzanine in Building 6 (the ALS). The
office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon,
and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. New user registration is done on
weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon, and from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
only; users arriving outside these hours should consult After-Hours
Access to the ALS for information about temporary access to
the facility.
Important Notice:
Owing to increased security practices at Berkeley Lab, all visiting
researchers and students must present photo identification, and
a document confirming that they will be working at the ALS, to security
personnel at the Lab's Blackberry Gate entrance. See the LBNL Security
Update Web page for additional information about security procedures
and access to Berkeley Lab.

Parking
Parking at
Berkeley Lab and the ALS is by permit only. Signs in each parking
lot designate the types of permit required for that area. Cars parked
in no-parking areas or reserved spaces without appropriate permits
may be cited or towed.
Parking permits will
be issued by the User Services Office, upon request, to eligible
ALS users after their registration is completed. Reservations for
parking after-hours or on weekends are not required, however a one-day
permit must be obtained at the Berkeley Lab Main Gate.
Finding a parking space
at Berkeley Lab can be very difficult. Users are strongly encouraged
