ProgrammeS.2 -- Poster, VCTP-49 Date: Wednesday, 31 July 2024> Time: 08:30 - 10:00> The Dynamics of a Sphere Rolling Upwards on Diverging Inclined GuidesKhanh Hoang Pham Minh (1), Van-Duy Nguyen (2) (1) Newton Grammar School; (2) Phenikaa University We propose an analytic and numerical solution to the mechanical paradox of a sphere rolling upwards on two diverging inclined guides. This paradox challenges gravity, as the sphere appears to move uphill. Our approach develops a theoretical framework combining dynamics and energy conservation to explain this phenomenon.
