In the framework of the Vietnam School of Physics (VSOP), Recontres du Vietnam (RdV) and the Institute of Physics (IOP, VAST) are organizing the 16th VSOP: School on Theoretical and Computational Condensed Matter Physics (Hanoi, 12-24 December 2010)

This school belongs to a series of VSOP organized by Rencontres du Vietnam since 1994. It is being planned to accept about 40-50 participants coming principally from research institutes and universities in Vietnam and in other countries in Asia. Priority will be given to advanced undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral researchers, faculty and research scientists from countries in the South-East Asia region. As it will be conducted in English, participants should have an adequate working knowledge of that language.

Some financial support may be available for participants (meal, accommodation, and travel, with a priority given to junior people) who are nationals of, and working in, developing countries mainly from the region. Such support is available only for those who attend the entire activity. During your on-line registration process, you will get a registration form in which you can ask for financial support. There is no registration fee.

Besides the main regular sponsor of the school RdV and IOP, VAST, the school is also supported by the Abdus Salam ICTP (Trieste, Italy) and by the APCTP (Pohang, Korea) as external activities.

This year, Rencontre du Vietnam will give 4 scholarships to Vietnamese attendees who actively participate in all the activities of the school.

In the beginning of the School, all participants of the School are invited to participate in: The 9th Asia Pacific Workshop on Materials Physics (APW-9) (Hanoi, 12-15 December 2010)

The School lectures will start right after the Workshop (15-24 December 2010)
