| Abstract | Dark matter, accounting for ~27% of the universe's energy budget, defies direct detection, challenging the ΛCDM paradigm on galactic scales through issues like core–cusp discrepancies, missing satellites, and too-big-to-fail galaxies. Self-interacting dark matter (SIDM) offers a compelling resolution, incorporating non-gravitational scatterings that smooth density profiles while preserving CMB and large-scale consistency. This talk explores SIDM probes via gravitational wave (GW) astronomy and cosmic magnetic fields in extreme settings, such as binary neutron star (BNS) mergers and core-collapse supernovae. SIDM may imprint on GW signals through altered tidal deformability, viscous propagation damping, and enhanced magnetic amplification during black hole growth/mergers, manifesting in waveform distortions and multi-messenger counterparts. |
