Institute of Physics

Organizational Structure

The Institute of Physics includes the following departments and centers:

1. General Administration Office
2. Center for Theoretical Physics
3. Center for Quantum Electronics
4. Center for Nuclear Physics
5. Center for Computational Physics
6. Center for Technical Physics and Environmental Technology
7. Center for Applied Physics and Scientific Instruments
8. Laboratory for Automation of Physical Experiments
9. International Center for Physics (recognized and sponsored by UNESCO) under the Institute of Physics (established by the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology with its own operational regulations).

Organizational changes in the period from 2011 to present:

1. In 2014: The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology issued Decision No. 779/QD-VHL on June 10, 2014, to establish the Advanced Center for Physics under the Institute of Physics. Later, Decision No. 2163/QD-VHL on December 9, 2020, was issued to dissolve the Advanced Center for Physics under the Institute of Physics.
2. In 2015: The Optoelectronics Workshop was merged into the Center for Engineering Physics under the Institute of Physics (Decision No. 59/QD-VVL on March 2, 2015, by the Institute of Physics).
3. In 2018: The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology issued Decision No. 341/QD-VHL on March 12, 2018, to establish the International Center for Physics under the Institute of Physics.
4. In 2020: The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology issued Decision No. 2354/QD-VHL on December 22, 2020, to merge the Institute of Applied Physics and Scientific Equipment into the Institute of Physics. Based on this merger decision, the Institute of Physics issued Decision No. 266/QD-VVL on December 25, 2020, to establish the Center for Applied Physics and Scientific Equipment.
5. In 2021: The Institute of Physics issued Decision No. 64/QD-VVL on April 12, 2021, to dissolve the Department of Data System Management and Network Security.
6. In 2025: the Center for Technical Physics and the Center for Physics and Environmental Technology merged into the Center for Technical Physics and Environmental Technology (Decision No. 50/QĐ-VVL dated March 5, 2025, issued by the Director of the Institute of Physics. The decision takes effect from March 15, 2025).
