| Abstract | We begin by presenting the foundational motivation arising from both theoretical considerations and observational evidence, highlighting the necessity for frameworks that extend beyond Einstein's gravity and the ΛCDM paradigm. Our discussion centres on the cosmology of dilaton-Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (dEGB) gravity, which represents one of the simplest extensions to Einstein’s theory through the inclusion of higher curvature terms. Particular attention is given to the emergence of a novel phase within dEGB cosmology at high temperatures, supplementing the established radiation, matter, and DE-dominated phases characteristic of the ΛCDM model. Following a brief overview of the various physical implications for cosmological evolution, we detail the impact and constraints imposed by gravitational waves originating from the standard model particle plasma in the early universe. |
