The 8th Academic Conference on Natural Science for Young Scientists, master & PhD Students from Asean Countries (CASEAN-8)

From August 27 to 30, 2023, the Institute of Physics under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology co-organized the 8th Conference on Natural Sciences for Young Scientists, PhD Students, and Graduate Students from Southeast Asian Countries (CASEAN-8), which took place at Vinh University, Vinh City, Nghe An Province, Vietnam.

The conference was attended by nearly 300 scientists from universities and research institutions across 11 countries in Europe and Asia, including Russia, the Czech Republic, Japan, Hong Kong (China), South Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam.

The Conference on Natural Sciences for Young Scientists, PhD Students, and Graduate Students from Southeast Asian Countries (CASEAN) was first successfully held in Vientiane, Laos, in 2010. Since then, CASEAN has been organized biennially. The conference covers various fields in the natural sciences such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, Medicine, Computer Science, and Engineering. Its main objective is to provide a valuable platform for young scientists, PhD students, and Master's and Doctoral candidates from ASEAN universities and institutes to foster regional exchange, mutual understanding and cooperation, as well as to promote scientific education and training.

At the conference, there were 68 oral presentations and more than 105 poster presentations, divided into several thematic sessions: the Natural Sciences Subcommittee (including presentations in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Mechanics, Environment, Informatics, and Electronics); the Photonics, Lasers, and Applications Subcommittee; the Physics, Nanomaterials, and Applications Subcommittee; and the Optical and Photonic Devices Subcommittee. Many presentations by scientists from Russia, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam received high praise.
