AbstractI will give an account on how we use high performance computing in astrophysics to help us make progress in various questions such as fluid dynamics or radiative transfer. My main focus will be on the conservation laws of fluids, for which pen and paper quickly fail to provide us with solutions. I will also attempt at giving a brief account of what is done is particle physics, although this is far from my domain of expertise, and I will hence run the risk of being non-exhaustive.
