ProgrammeI.5 -- Invited, VCTP-51 Date: Tuesday, 4 August 2026> Time: 10:30 - 11:10> The Cosmic Origin of Matter: Higgs Physics, Gravitational Waves and Collider Probes of BaryogenesisMilada M. Muhlleitner Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany One of the major open questions in the Standard Model (SM) is the origin of the observed matter–antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. A dynamical mechanism capable of generating the baryon asymmetry is electroweak baryogenesis. Although the SM qualitatively satisfies the necessary Sakharov conditions, its phenomenological predictions are not compatible with the observed baryon asymmetry. In this talk, I will explore possible vacuum phase histories of the early Universe, the resulting generation of gravitational waves, and the prospects for explaining the observed baryon asymmetry within various extensions of the Higgs sector beyond the SM. I will discuss the connections to current and future collider experiments as well as upcoming gravitational wave observatories, highlighting the prospects for experimentally testing these theoretical scenarios.
