Anisotropic Exciton in Monolayer Black Phosphorus with Exact Center-of-Mass Separation

Excitons play a fundamental role in determining the optical properties of two-dimensional semiconductor materials and have attracted considerable attention over the past decade. In this work, we develop a regulated perturbation theory for an anisotropic exciton in an external magnetic field based on an algebraic approach. The method is applied to calculate the energies and wave functions of magnetoexcitons in a monolayer black phosphorus, a prototypical anisotropic two-dimensional material. Our approach combines conventional perturbation theory with the Feranchuk–Komarov operator method and incorporates spatial scaling, the Levi-Civita transformation, and the introduction of a variational free parameter to improve the convergence of the perturbation expansion. The resulting formalism allows all matrix elements to be evaluated analytically and provides convergent solutions with controllable accuracy. Highly accurate exciton energies and wave functions are obtained, with energy values converged to six decimal places. For the zero-field case, the calculated results are in good agreement with available experimental data. The predictions presented for finite magnetic fields may serve as reliable benchmark results for future theoretical and experimental investigations of anisotropic excitonic systems.
