In an open Fermi-Hubbard optical lattice, two-particle interactions pertain to the energy contributions of either the presence of two particles of different spins in the same site or the interaction between a lattice and a bath particle of the same spin. Through analytical methods, one can account for the energy contribution of two particles of the same spin among nearest neighboring sites, known as the elastic term. Just as in the case of entropy, electromagnetic fields can be applied to increase or decrease the spin conductivity of the lattice particles. Increasing the magnitude of the applied magnetic field increases the spin conductivity as a bias occurs on which spin is transported. On the other hand, the external electric field induces a bias on the direction of the spin transport.
