ProgrammeP.49 -- Poster, VCTP-45 Date: Tuesday, 13 October 2020> Time: 08:30 - 10:00> Iron-tin-based nanocomposite anodes for sodium-ion batteriesPhung Viet Duc (1,2), Nguyen Van Dung (3), Hoang Hai (1,2), Nguyen Tuan Loi (1,2) (1) Institute of Fundamental and Applied Sciences, Duy Tan University (2) Faculty of Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Duy Tan University (3) Faculty of Chemical Engineering, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology We report a simple method to synthesize iron-tin-based nanocomposites (FexSnyOz NCs) as new anode materials for sodium-ion batteries. FexSnyOz NCs are synthesized via the reactions between Fe3+ ions and Sn at high temperature in triethylene glycol solvent. The as-prepared NCs consist of Fe3O4 and SnO2 at the nanometer scale (< 6 nm). The NCs show high capacity, good cyclic stability, and excellent rate performance; for instance, FexSnyOz-18h NCs delivers a reversible capacity of 215 mAh g-1 after 100 cycles. The outstanding electrochemical performance is attributed to the presence of nanostructures and inactive phases that act as buffer spaces for the volume change of active materials during alloying and conversion reactions.
