SoftDB - Software Database
NIH Resource for Macromolecular Modeling and Bioinformatics
UIUC

Introduction

SoftDB is a simple software database with a web interface designed to serve the needs of a particular field of research, in this case, structural biology. Since the scope of application is much more limited than similar systems such as freshmeat.net, the database and interface are relatively small, and can be run on almost any web server through the use of a few Perl scripts and a MySQL back-end database. With a small amount of local site configuration the source code provided can be used to setup a software database like our Structural Biology Software Database. Efforts have been made to make as much of the code site-independent as possible, but some amount of customization is desirable in order to make your software database serve the needs of its user community.
