ELSI Applications Due April 6, 2000

The DOE Office of Science invites applications for grants in the Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) component of the Human Genome Program (Program Notice 00-10 at www.sc.doe.gov/production/grants/grants.html). Applications should address ELSI issues associated with human genome research in four broad areas: (1) Genetics and the Workplace, (2) Storage of Information and Samples, (3) Education, and (4) Complex or Multigenic Traits.

Brief preapplications are strongly encouraged by February 17, 2000, to Dr. Daniel Drell; Office of Biological and Environmental Research, SC-72; 19901 Germantown Rd.; Germantown, MD 20874-1290 (301/903-4742, Daniel.Drell@science.doe.gov). Final applications are due April 6, 2000. Contact Dr. Drell for more information or to discuss an ELSI proposal.
