MDL® Discovery Framework MDL® Discovery Experiment Management MDL® Discovery Predictive Science MDL® Discovery Knowledge	MDL® SMART MDL's Sample Management and Reagent Tracking system, MDL SMART, is a chemical inventory system that helps organizations order and track reagents and manage samples through the discovery workflow. The architecture includes a Web-based user interface built on server-based encapsulated business rules and a relational database layer that accesses chemical supplier information through the MDL Available Chemicals Directory. Highlights: Core functionality: Locating and ordering reagents; creation of purchase orders; sample registration and disposal (including integration with barcode systems); inventory reconciliation; site administration; user administration; report generation. Optional functionality: Integration with barcode printing devices from Intermec and Zebra; link to OHS MSDS data; and integration of barcode readers for inventory reconciliation and container tracking, independent of the user interface (Transaction Manager). Integration: Transfer of shopping carts from MDL Reagent Selector, a reagent selection tool, to SMART; data transfer from SMART to MDL Afferent, an experiment management tool, and MDL Apex, a plate management tool, via SDfile.
