MDL® LitLink Servers

MDL LitLink Servers are innovative software programs that link literature citations in your desktop applications to journal articles, patents, and other documents.

When you select a citation, LitLink Server's dynamic linking system uses the citation as input and automatically retrieves the corresponding document.

MDL LitLink Servers

LitLink Servers can be installed at your site, or can be accessed as an Internet hosted-linking solution.

MDL LitLink Server options installed at your site include LitLink/Standard Server and LitLink/Pro Server.

Both LitLink Servers provide:

One-click access to multiple document sources:
LitLink Servers provide users 100% citation coverage from their desktop applications by linking to Internet sites, intranet sites, or by generating email requests to your designated sources for hardcopy documents.

Point and Click administration:
LitLink Servers provide librarians the flexibility to configure preferred document sources using a simple 'Point and Click' Web administrative interface. You can define your own delivery strategies to facilitate cost control and view usage statistics to maximize your investments in journal and database subscriptions.

MDL LitLink/Standard Server Features

LitLink/Standard Server is ideally tailored for synthetic chemists and links citations in the CrossFire Beilstein Database and MDL's toxicity and methodology databases to the leading sources of articles and patents. Articles are available electronically from major scientific publishers including Elsevier Science, Thieme, The Royal Society of Chemistry, ACS Publications, SwetsNet and many more. Patents are available electronically from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office, and the Delphion Intellectual Property Network. Additional sources are added as they become available.

MDL LitLink/Pro Server Features:

In addition to the functionality provided by LitLink/Standard Server, LitLink/Pro Server provides software developers the tools to link citations in their Windows, Web, and Java applications to Internet or intranet document sites. For example, your software applications can be LitLink-enabled to connect to internal and third-party sources for articles, patents, and reports. LitLink Server - Pro Server provides documented interfaces for adding:

  • New literature types
  • New document, journal, patent and customer-defined sites
  • Custom citation parsers

NEW! MDL LitLink Direct

MDL LitLink Direct offers the power of direct citation linking and controlled document access, without the upkeep and maintenance of your own server.
Librarians can log directly into the MDL LitLink Direct Web Administrative interface and specify their corporate source preferences.
Scientists simply click on any hyperlinked reference and the appropriate full-text is displayed or the appropriate document request service is started.

LitLink Server assists you in locating document providers and their documents cited in your applications. You are solely responsible for securing appropriate access rights to third-party documents. MDL claims no affiliation with, endorsement by, or sponsorship from the providers of these documents.
