ProgrammeP.4 -- Poster Date: Friday, 24 November 2017> Time: 10:30 - 11:20> Effect of Hubbard U on antiferromagnetic monolayer FeSe/SrTiO3(001) superconductorNaomi Jane P. Jacosalem, and Leo Cristobal C. Ambolode II Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology Previous studies identified some factors, such as electron doping and electron-phonon coupling, that contribute to the enhancement of $T_c$ in monolayer FeSe grown on SrTiO$_3$ (STO) superconductor. However, these factors are insufficient to fully explain the high-$T_c$ of monolayer FeSe/STO. In this study, we examine the effect of introducing Hubbard $U$ correction in the DFT calculations on the electronic structure of monolayer FeSe/STO(001) to investigate the possible existence of electron correlation in the system. It is found that the Hubbard $U$ suppresses the hole-like band at the Brillouin zone center leading to an electronic structure that resembles the experimental ARPES data. This suggests that electron correlation in monolayer FeSe/STO system plays an important role in its high-$T_c$ superconductivity. Presenter: Naomi Jane P. Jacosalem |
