Finding qubit with long coherence times and high controllability is a long-standing goal in quantum information science and condensed matter physics. Spin degree of freedom confined by a superconducting gap has been considered as a new resource for such qubits. Recent theoretical and experimental studies on hybrid semiconducting nanowire-superconductor open an opportunity to use such a superconducting spin as a qubit state. In this lecture, I will review the basics of a Josephson junction covering from a theoretical model for the junction to the response of a microwave resonator in the context of circuit quantum electrodynamics. Recent studies on hybrid nanowire superconductor Josephson junctions such as spin-split Andreev states and dynamical polarization of the fermion parity and the possible uses of the Andreev spin states as a new superconducting qubit will be discussed.
