The ICTP Asian Network on Condensed Matter, Complex Systems and Statistical Physics 2023-2026 and the Institute of Physics & International Center of Physics , Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (IOP-VAST) are organizing the Asian Network School and Workshop on Complex Condensed Matter Systems, to take place in Hanoi, Vietnam from 6 to 10 November 2023.

This activity, the combined school and workshop, is the first in a series conducted by the ICTP Asian Network on Condensed Matter, Complex Systems and Statistical Physics 2023-2026, a cooperation project for the research engagement between International Center for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy (ICTP); Asia-Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics, Pohang, Korea (APCTP); Center for Theoretical Physics and Complex Systems, Institute for Basic Science, Daejeon, Korea (PCS-IBS); Institute of Physics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, Hanoi, Vietnam (IOP-VAST); School of Physics, Suranaree University of Technology, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand (SUT); National Institute of Physics, University of the Philippines Diliman, Quezon City, Philippines (NIP-UPD); University of Indonesia/Bandung Institute of Technology, Indonesia (UI-BIT); and Royal University of Phnom Penh, Cambodia (RUP).

The previous ICTP Asian on Condensed Matter and Complex Systems 2017-2020 organized three activities, the combined school and workshop. The first one was held at the Institute of Physics – Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (IOP-VAST) in Hanoi, Vietnam from 20-24 November 2017. The second one was held at the School of Physics, Institute of Science, Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) , Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand from 5-9 November 2018. The third one was held at the University of the Philippines Diliman, Manila, Philippines, from 4-8 November 2019.

The aim of this Network School and Workshop, to be organized in alternate years in the Network node countries, is to leverage the combined expertise of the advanced network nodes in Italy (ICTP) and Korea (APCTP, IBS-PCS) to foster the growth of advanced studies in theoretical physics in the regional developing countries of South East Asia. A particular focus is to help to train postgraduate students, postdocs and early career researchers from Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia and other nearby regional countries. This activity is open to participants from all APCTP Member Countries and ICTP-OEA regional countries on the UNESCO list.
