ANNOUNCEMENT
The Second School on the Large Hadron Collider Physics (LHC) is jointly organized by
the Hochiminh City University of Science (HCMUS), the Hanoi University of Science (HUS) and
the Institute of Physics (IOP), in Hochiminh City from the 4th to 9th of January 2010 .
More detailed and updated information can be found from the school website

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE SCHOOL
This LHCS is one of the activities realizing the agreement between CERN and Vietnam
represented by Vietnamese Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) and cooperation programs
(LIA and CNRS-VAST agreements) between scientific institutions of France and Vietnam in which HCMUS, IOP, and HUS are involved.
The school aims at providing a general theoretical and experimental background on particle physics to fourth year undergraduate and Master degree students. The lectures are related to experiments of the Large Hadron Collider with hands-on training on computer based on the ATLAS experiment as examples.
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a multi - TeV high energy particle accelerator located at CERN near Geneva. Being a complex of science and high technology attracting the widest international cooperation, the LHC is the biggest and most expensive scientific facility ever made by human. The LHC is expected to do experiments looking for new particles, specially, Higgs; supersymmetry; extra dimensions and other new physics. The LHC may reveal a new view to particle physics,
cosmology in particular and science and technology in general.
